The O Level cram

Transcript

But a week after that,

would I like to go back

to see if I had the aptitude

Now, it wasn't lost on me

to come back to be a navigator,

it was also saying

because they'd already

all navigators would be officers.

So I very quickly wrote back

"Yes, please, I'd like to come back."

But I also thought I need

of trying to get those 3 O-levels.

So once again I went to the educational

and instead of going to reception

I went straight to the

Squadron Leader,

"I could do with some help, sir."

I said, "I'd like to take -

I've looked to see when the

and they're in 2 months' time,

and so I want to take 4 O-levels."

He said, "There's no way I can teach

That's a waste of time."

So I said, "Sir, look, I'm

because I don't want you to

I want you to get me

I don't care what the subjects are

and I don't care what grades

At that point, he said to me,

"OK, sit down. Let me find out

And I explained to him

I've just received from Biggin Hill.

At the end of it, he said,

"I stand by what I said,

you have no chance of passing

But I'm prepared to help you

And what you have to do is

for the next 8 weeks,

you have to come to my office

5 o'clock every evening.

I will set you work

bring it back the

If you don't do it

I will stop it because I think

I'm wasting my time anyway.

I said, 'Yes, that's a deal.'

So for the next 8 weeks,

every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,

I go and pick up work,

In the barrack block I live in,

but there's a drying room

and we dry them,

So 3 or 4 or 5 o'clock

I'd sit in this room doing my -

and most of the morning,

And sometimes even

I'd do the work and get it

back to him in the evening.

And then at the end of 8 weeks,

After I've taken the exams,

but before the results come out,

they invite me back to Biggin Hill.

There's no interview board,

there's some hand-eye coordination,

there's those sort of things and...

hysical exercise and

So it's pretty straightforward.

And then I wait for the results

They send me a letter and it says,

"We await your exam results,"

which means I've passed.

Really, if I get them, I've passed.

The reason I chose 4 exams is

in case I failed one, and I did.

But I passed 3,

And, and now I have the basic

I send them back to Biggin Hill
