As I mentioned earlier on,
no educational qualifications
but in the RAF, not only
educational qualifications, but I needed
And one of those was a trade test,
To get promoted,
from leading aircraftman,
to senior aircraftman,
You could take that test
and I failed it 13 times.
Now, I'm not sure how
at somebody who'd failed
They might worry about
but also worry about why
Why would you continue to
against a brick wall 13 times?
Partly that was because
The object - I still wanted to get
I could get promoted
So on not one occasion
disheartened or that
I just wanted to take the test.
the 14th time and passed,
"Oh, wow, I'm going to be promoted."
I followed it almost immediately
I should at least get one GCE,
you know, a proper test that's useful
So, every base had an
and the educational section
GCE in maths. Which I took.
So those 13, 14 exams and my
one GCE took me the
I was in Khormaksar.
