Protective Garments

Transcript

Fire protection is garments normally

to prevent pilots being damaged or hurt

from flash fires, which have been known

And they sort of like normally,

So they're really, really hot,

So we need to make sure that,

if they are exposed to the environment,

it's a fine balance that we need to find

there are requirements, which is,

to a certain temperature for something

five seconds.

Which is what we estimate

with which people would be able

before it's

That needs to be carefully managed

you can build up the fire protection

but you also need to be aware

in this clothing,

You don't want to bulk up on the clothing

so that operating in something like this,

which will protect them

but they could become, you know, thermal

It's really, really bulky

So it's finding that fine balance

of this happening and also inhibiting

Mass bulk

that we're trying to get suppliers

because it is a problem.

You know the current equipment

you're looking at 3 or 4 layers.

Not only does it take ages to put on

but it's also, you know, you get these,

for long periods and you get sort of

you know, you've been walking

And if you, you having to operate

we try not to use the word comfortable

But if a pilot is distracted

and they aren't able

then that will inhibit their ability

And that's not good.
