I had a really wonderful,

So to begin with, starting off in a quiet

where the majority of the accommodation

So.

So quiet and, you know, stuck there

But when we got to Wittering,

there was always somebody, a wife,

road rep, they were called.

So somebody new coming in,

this road rep would turn up at the door

welcome, you know,

With military life and with other wives

as wives, you know, when the husbands were

It's like a family, really, service life,

especially as I was quite heavily pregnant

not long after we arrived there and,

But we only had one car and, you know,

so you always needed some help,

otherwise took me for antenatal, you know,

appointments and things like that.

And you made friends very quickly.

It was lovely.

Literally, the day after she was born,

because

holding, waiting for the Harrier course

going to be going on to.

To train to be a Harrier pilot.

So he had to go to various different

And that took him away

He came home as many weekends as he could.

But, yes, that was difficult.

I found that really tough

I was 23 then, and he wasn't around,

so, yeah, that was quite, quite difficult.

But, you know, there were other wives

that I'd made friends with, so

But we didn't have a phone in the quarter

There was.

There was a phone box

Now and again, you know, well, I'd go

We made an arrangement.

I'd get to the phone for him to ring me,

He tried to get home as many weekends as

and that was really nice,

the baby as much as me as well.
