had to be standing there that day,
having just been awarded my wings
with my family there to see.
And then on top of that, being able to get airborne
so they could watch me go and fly an aircraft
and we did the fly past diamond nine
just like the Red Arrows
and then did this ten ship air field attack.
And then landed and they saw me
climbing out of this aircraft.
That's just gotta be proudest moment.
My family were there to watch me fly.
During a dangerous flight to Kabul, pilot Alice McDermott found herself praying to God for protection. She promised that should she survive, she would embrace the faith she had once had as a child but since lost. After 23 years of service Alice left the RAF and became a church minister, later joining the RAF Reserves as a Chaplain in 2016.
