Without getting all political

and giving the backstory too much,

that was just to get media attention.

The F-35 and the F-16, they're different platforms.

What's great about the F-35 is that it'll never

get into this one-v-one engagements,

the fight should be well and truly over by then.

Equally, that was a long time ago.

The jet's come on a long way,

the controller has come on a long way.

The performance of the aircraft is excellent.

It can hold its own.

You can actually stage anything, in my mind.

If you want to hammer home a message,

you can make it happen.

It's a bit like going online.

If you want to find out that you're dying of some ailments,

then I'm sure you can find a website that tells you

you've got the symptoms for that, and it's absolutely fine.

It's just like everything,

there's a lot of bad press out there for F-35.

But you know what, that's fine,

because people should be highly critical,

it's a very expensive piece of equipment.

I pay my taxes, and I want to make sure

that my taxes aren't being wasted.

And I can look you very squarely in the eyes

and say you're not wasting your taxes,

you're not wasting your money on the F-35.

It's a generational increase in capability

compared to the other aircraft.
