Play / pause The Jet Age

The Jet Age

Transcript

But I could see the way it was going

the first of the jet bombers was coming

which was the Canberra.

The Canberra and you had two navigators and pilot.

You had no air signaler, no engineer, and no rear gunner.

So you could see immediately three grades

of air crew wouldn't be required anymore.

The only move up which I could have had

if I had stayed in was to become

an air electronics officer on the Vickers Valiant.

Which I would have enjoyed but probably I didn't

have the brains for that 'cause it's quite.

Technology had come on considerable since then.
