with the RAF, so I went

and there I had my first pay parade,
so the long room at Lords Cricket ground.
We lived in luxury flats
and our meals were in
for the Regents Park Zoo.

Stan Holmes served as a Meteorological Air Observer in No. 251 Squadron. Stan joined the Met Office on deferred service, working on RAF Stations until starting aircrew training. After demobilisation, Stan continued in meteorology and worked alongside the RAF for his entire career.
