A Mother’s War

  • Katherine Du Plat-Taylor
  • Interview by: Jess Boydon

Transcript

My mother lost, in the First World War,

her husband, her three brothers,

And she was left, I was serving

on wherever I was.

My father was defending East Anglia

with bullets and no rifles

I've forgotten which.

My brother, one brother was in the Army,

the other brother was in the Air Force,

and we were all away.

And my sister was in London, nursing.

And she was left alone in Scotland.

And it must have been agonizing for her.
