Play / pause Polish Air Force

Polish Air Force

  • Max Moray

I went to the Polish embassy, as I told you.

They, it was a major who interviewed me

and then, believe it or not, he says,

"We will take you, of course.

We're only too happy, but you have to learn Polish."

Now that was actually a total lie,

because it's the Polish Air Force had to learn English,

not the other way around.

But, what can I do?

He's a major.

He tells me that.

And in order to do that, you have to go to Scotland

to join the first Polish paratroop brigade,

which was what I had to do.

I joined the army, the Polish army, parachute arm.

So I was in Scotland.

Luckily, very luckily I met a young officer

who spoke good English, who got me out of this mess somehow,

and that was my way back to the air force,

because the commander of that Polish paratroop brigade said,

"What the hell are you doing here?

You're a pilot."
